JA+

Everything from JA+ is built in

Duels, emotes, the grappling hook, the jetpack and sabers in any colour you like. There is no extra mod to install and no plugin to hunt down. Start the game and it is all there.

Voice chat

Talk to each other

Voice chat is part of the game. Hold a key and speak. A voice comes from where its player stands: close by it is loud, far away it is quiet, and behind a wall it sounds muffled.

Graphics

A new graphics engine

VisionJK draws the game with a renderer written for the graphics cards of today. It is fast, it smooths jagged edges and it makes the sabers glow. If your computer can not run it, the classic renderer takes over by itself.

3D sound

Sound that fits the room

Switch on 3D sound and a hall rings longer than a small room, a fight behind a wall sounds dull and far away, and footsteps reach you through the doorway. Best with headphones.

For server owners

Your server in the browser

Run your own server and look after it from a web page. See the map with everyone on it, move, heal or kick players, change settings, and place objects in the level with the built in editor.

Compatible

Plays with everyone

VisionJK joins the servers that are already out there, and players with the original game can join yours. It creates no player ID that follows you from server to server, and it asks no update server for news.

Three steps and you play

  1. Have the original game installed: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
  2. Unpack the download and copy everything in its folder into the GameData folder of the game.
  3. Start visionjk.x86_64.exe on Windows or visionjk.x86_64 on Linux.

Questions

Do I need to own the game?

Yes. VisionJK is the program, not the game itself. It uses the levels, characters and sounds of Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, so the original game has to be installed.

What does it cost?

Nothing. VisionJK is free.

Can I play on the servers I already know?

Yes. VisionJK joins normal Jedi Academy servers, also the ones that run other mods. Voice chat only works on servers that run VisionJK.

Can friends with the original game join my server?

Yes. They join and play as they always did. They just do not hear the voice chat.

How do I talk to other players?

Choose a key in the menu under Controls, JA+ Control, Voice Chat. Hold it and speak. Use headphones, otherwise the others hear themselves through your speakers. More in the guide Voice chat.

Do I have to set up JA+ myself?

No. The JA+ features come with VisionJK, for players and for servers. You do not install JA+ on top of it.

Is there a version for the Mac?

Not yet. It is being worked on.
